MEET OUR PASTOR
Bishop Wendy Ann Rose Toon, D.D.
Bishop Wendy A. Rose Toon graduated from Urban College of Boston where in 1997 she received her Associate’s Degree in Human Services. In August 2000 she received her Bachelor of Science in Social Work from Wheelock College, Boston, MA. In the year 2007 she received the Ambassador of Peace Award.
She is the proud parent of Ms. Sha’ree M., Ladawn S., and son Chad W. She has 3 grandchildren Kalonji Camara, Jenisys Soulai, and Naomi. Her children are her strength and inspiration. She believes a strong family structure is essential to the development of a unified family and they embrace individualism, diversity, and creativity.
In October of 1986, Bishop Toon turned her life over to Jesus Christ this began her life commitment to serve God and His people. In 1990, God called her to be a pillar at the Revival Deliverance Edification Center in Boston, MA where she was trained under the leadership of the Right, Dr. Bishop Jenniefer J. Hightower. Bishop Toon also served as the Executive Director of the Creative Performance Arts Center After School Program at RDEC.
In 1995, Bishop Wendy A. Rose Toon received her license for Full Gospel Ministry and was later ordained in 1998. In 2001 she received a Certificate of Church Protocol from Bishop Paul McKoy, Jr. and in 2002 was assigned Pastor of Revival Deliverance Praise and Worship Center in New Bedford, MA. God has sent Bishop Toon to New Bedford and its surrounding areas to bring a word of healing, restoration, and hope to the people. Her objective is to teach families, church members, and other communities to rise and be healed. Bishop Toon has a Shepherd’s heart and is a leader in every sense of the word. Her heart’s desire is to make a difference in the lives of others.
On April 17, 2010, Pastor Wendy A. Rose Toon was consecrated Bishop at the Keys of Kingdom Tabernacle Church in Brockton, MA. Bishop Toon was the first female Cape Verdean to be consecrated Bishop in the New England region.
In 2014, Bishop Toon received a Masters of Ecclesiastical Leadership and an honorary Doctor of Divinity degree from the Joint College of Bishops in Cleveland, Ohio.
With strong conviction, she believes “Where there is no vision, the people will perish” Proverbs 29:18 and is reminded of the wise saying “if you give a man a fish he will eat for a day, teach him how to fish and he will eat for a lifetime”. Bishop Toon desires to teach God’s people how to fish, to maintain self-sufficiency, self-worth, and to educate themselves in order to educate their families and the community. She believes the best way to assure the success of an individual is to accommodate them holistically.
Moreover, she wants to teach others how to apply the Word of God to break the bondage of poverty, dysfunctionalism, and generational curses that promote drug and alcohol addictions, unwed pregnancy, gang involvement, broken homes, and shattered dreams.
In May 2018, Bishop Toon retired from the Department of Children and Families where she served as an Adoption Social Worker. She was faced with the task of reuniting families and finding homes for children whose lives were shattered, with the memories of abuse, neglect, and violence the only connection to their families.
On February 26, 2022, Bishop Toon established the Ethel Rose House of Refuge Sober House for Women at the Shachah Praise & Worship Center Church, providing a six-bed sober house & living quarters to assist women who are on the road to recovery and support services and spiritual counseling. As we address the issues of drugs and alcohol as well as homelessness.
On June 29, 2024, Bishop Toon received her Masters in Christian Counseling from the School of The Great Commission Bible College & Seminary in Boston, MA.
Her assignment is to bring families together to show them the road to recovery through the Word of God. Moreover, she is a servant and a leader who knows how to follow Christ and is an exhorter. She loves helping others reach their potential and believes that everyone should be given the opportunity to have the best quality of life.
As God called Abraham she too was called to New Bedford in September of 2001. When Dr. Bishop Jenniefer Hightower presented her with her assignment from God through His Word, “Genesis 12:1-9”, and like Abraham, she departed and journeyed South of Boston to possess the land. Like Caleb and Joshua, she has taken back a good report that the land is prosperous.
